Updated October 3, 2020
Founded in 2001, InMotion hosting is one of the oldest, and largest web hosts out there and when it comes to VPS hosting, they offer two primary types of hosting: managed VPS hosting and un-managed VPS hosting. In this article I will be covering both, the plans, prices and features offered.
If you're an individual running their own site or game server, you should go for un-managed VPS hosting as it is the cheaper option and gives you more flexibility when choosing a server.
For starters your feature set it pretty bare, you get a server, choice of operating system, access to that server, and that's it. This is not a bad thing because all of the really important stuff is already here and the extra fluff that you will probably never miss anyways.
Below is a table of each tier, the relevant features and the monthly price, unlike most other products, you buy these servers on a monthly commitment only and there is no annual plans available.
|Plan||RAM||CPU Cores||Storage||Bandwidth||Price (Per Month)|
While you do get some great prices here, it's important to know that these are bare servers so you wont be getting any pretty interfaces or one-click installers. However if all you need is a server and all that other stuff is fluff, consider going with an unmanaged VPS from InMotion hosting as you will get the most bang for your buck.

Designed for buisnesses in mind, managed VPS hosting offers a wide variety of features but most important is that since the servers are managed by InMotion hosting, you don't have to worry about keeping the software on it up to date and maintaining it every step of the way. The team at InMotion hosting will constantly monitor your server for uptime and make sure everything is up to date to you can literally set it up and forget about it.
And speaking of uptime, since InMotion hosts these VPS's in redundant hardware clusters, this being able to garuntee an uptime of 100%. Besides this, you also get things like root access (even in a managed enviorment), unlocked CPU cores for faster performance and choosing your datacenter to optimizer performance based on your location.
InMotion has 3 tiers of Managed VPS, VPS-1000HA-S, VPS-2000HA-S and VPS-3000HA-S (if one thing InMotion hosting isn't terribly good at is naming their products). Below I will cover pricing and features of all these tiers and tell you which is the best deal and worth your money.
InMotion hosting offers 1 month, 6 month, 1 year and 2 year terms. Below is a price table that breaks down what you total for each term and which is the best deal.
Running a Managed VPS isn't cheap, but if you are in need of power and flexibility that only a VPS can provide then you need one and there is no getting around it. The best deal in every teir is pretty clear, get the longest term you can and you will save the most by doing so. If you need a VPS then likely you will be running it for several years. Getting the longer plans saves you a ton of money. For example. The with the VPS-3000HA-S plan, the difference between getting the monthly and the 2 year plan is over $1000 in savings.
